Ellis and Brecht have spent years building a life together. They are each other's first love, surrounded by close friends and plans for the future. And just as the worst of Brecht's battle with cancer seems to be behind them, everyone is ready for life to return to normal.

Having survived an illness that took control of his life, he suddenly wants control back. He asks for one month away from Ellis and the business he shares with his best friend, giving himself time to work out what he really wants.
For Ellis, who carried them both through his illness, the decision feels impossible to understand. The shock soon spreads through their tightly connected circle, where relationships, careers, parenthood, and expectations for what comes next are already putting everyone's choices under pressure.
